What is a Landscaper?

Landscaper's Move the Landscape

PictureDo you want to be the grounds keeper or the one who designed this?
A Landscaper is a person who moves earth and water for a living to make your home or property more aesthetically pleasing. A person trained in landscaping will probably work on improving an existing garden design, or they might work in one or more of a specialized area of landscaping. Some of these specialties include: designing water gardens and water fountains known normally as an aquascape, installing lawn sprinkler systems or drains mostly know as irrigation systems, designing and implementing a brick, concrete, or stamped concrete pathway or patio. Since the learning requirements for a landscaping business is not very strict, anyone looking to start a career as a Landscaper should find it fairly easy to get into.

Along with what is mentioned above, a person in landscaping could do everything from trimming trees and planting beautiful flowers or bushes, to building firepits, outdoor kitchens, and pergolas. Advancing in your career as a landscaper, could have you planning and designing golf courses, which is something a landscape architect does. If you were to be a landscaper or start your own San Antonio landscaping company, your clients would definitely keep you in mind when they want to move large amounts of dirt for a pool or even a retaining wall.
There are so many places to get your clients. Big companies have their company grounds that need to be maintained, educational facilities of all types have campus ground to be kept up, cities and towns have public parks that need to be maintained and even upgraded, theme parks and zoos also need a good landscape design solution. As you can see there is plenty of room for finding large contracts, but on a smaller scale, there are a lot of landscapers that earn a living by just planting seasonal flowers and trimming trees and bushes. Smaller scale jobs do not require too much equipment nor training, so usually this is a good stepping stone to changing careers or even as a side job for extra income.

So, what does a landscapers "office" look like? It could be anywhere from working the landscape features of someone's backyard, up to maintaining and upgrading a corporations large campus. This means a landscaper will need to get comfortable working outdoors. Many landscapers just starting out owning their own business might just be working from home. It is no big deal. Many small business owners started out from their home. You can too if this interests you. Then as you grow, your equipment gets bigger, your clients get bigger, your team grows, as do your profits and eventually you will need a place of business other than your home for your San Antonio Landscaping Company.
